Church planting and replanting is no easy endeavor. It takes prayer, the Lord’s guidance and a network of support, such as Texas Baptists Urban Missions, a ministry that assists pastors in replanting churches, such as Southside City Church.
In 2008, Darrell Auvenshine planted Southside City Church in Fort Worth. He saw a need for God’s people to offer hope and the love of Christ to alienated individuals of that community — people with HIV/AIDS.
Now, over 10 years later, Southside City Church serves as a home church for three church plants in Texas. One of these is Lebanon Community Church where attendance in six months increased from 13 people on a Sunday morning to more than 30 on Sunday mornings and 45 on Sunday evenings.
Our church’s gifts through the Cooperative Program provide some of that support to ministries like Urban Missions. Let’s pray for their work, Southside City Church, and for Lebanon Community Church as they continue to minister in their community.
